Blackburn's Santa Cruz: I want to play with Kaka at Man City

Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz admits he's keen to play at Manchester City - with Kaka.

Santa Cruz is vowing to do everything he can to help Rovers win their relegation battle while he remains at Ewood Park.

But he admits to keeping an eye on what his old boss Mark Hughes is doing down the road at City - and, in particular, the stunning £243m deal for AC Milan's Kaka.

Santa Cruz said: "I don't know what will happen this month for me. Would I want to play alongside Kaka? Well, yes. Certainly to have a player like Kaka in your side would be great.

"I know City are a team looking to become big in the future. They have a lot of ambition. They are looking to bring in some big players and aiming for the Champions League.

"Whilst I'm a Blackburn player I can't talk to anyone at City.

"I only know what everyone else knows - that they are interested in me but that they have not yet come to any agreement with Blackburn."

Santa Cruz insists he will have no problems staying at Ewood Park for the rest of the season, as he has always been happy at the club. But if he does get his wish to play for a bigger outfit, there is only one place he is interested in moving to.

He added: "My agent has been contacted by other clubs. But the fact is Mark Hughes is a manager I know. He knows me and I know what he expects. But everything is out of my hands. I'm leaving it entirely to the two clubs to sort out.

"It might seen strange that I love Blackburn but I also want to go on and play for a bigger team and achieve more.

"Yet that's the situation. If nothing happens in the transfer window, then I will be happy to stay and work hard to move forward."
