Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz is flying to Germany in a last-ditch bid to help keep the club up.

The Mirror says the Paraguayan strike star has been dogged by tendonitis in his knees and calf problems, reducing him to a fringe man in Sam Allardyce's struggle to avoid relegation.

Now the former Bayern Munich ace has gone back to one of the leading doctors he used in Germany. Santa Cruz is desperate to be fit to prove his worth to Rovers - and also put himself about to impress suitors Manchester City and Tottenham.
