Blackburn's Samba: Hughes great manager

Mark Hughes being touted for the vacancy at Tottenham proves he is a "great manager", according to Blackburn defender Christopher Samba.

Rovers boss Hughes was immediately installed as second favourite for the Spurs job following Thursday night's dramatic departure of Martin Jol.

The 43-year-old moved to distance himself from the speculation on Friday, much to the relief of Samba, who only this week committed his own future to Blackburn by signing a five-year contract.

"This proves he is a great manager," said the 23-year-old of the Spurs rumours.

"I think the boss wants to achieve something with us.

"He has been great here."
