Blackburn Rovers striker Jason Roberts believes the Premiership's quality has improved this season because of the strength of the three promoted clubs.

He told the Rovers website: "There's a lot of good sides in this league. The way all the promoted sides have performed has put an added slant on things, so it's going to be a very interesting year.

"From our point of view we want to be looking up rather than behind us. We know there are some good teams down there but we want to be looking up.

"We had a great season last year, but we were a little bit disappointed ending where we did, and we now want to be looking up."
