Blackburn Rovers captain Ryan Nelsen admits the Premiership's Christmas programme will make-or-break their season.
"This Christmas period is absolutely vital for us," he said. "If we can steady the ship at the back a bit and at least give platforms for the boys ahead of us to win games instead of catching up, hopefully we will be all right."
The 30-year-old New Zealander is spending another Christmas a long way from home, and despite the lure of his homeland he insists there is nowhere he would rather be.
"I was on the phone to my parents, it was 30 degrees and both of them were going to the beach and they had a picnic packed," Nelsen said.
"But I wouldn't want be any other place - even though I'm going to be freezing."
