Blackburn's Mokoena: McEveley good enough for England

Blackburn Rovers defender Aaron Mokoena is convinced his former teammate Jay McEveley could have been the answer to England's left-back problems.

Mokoena, who played with McEveley at Blackburn before the youngster left for Derby in January, said: "Jay has a fantastic left foot and he is doing well at Derby, playing every week against top-class players.

"There are lots of quality left-backs in England but they have problems in that position because of injuries.

"Jay never seems to have injuries. He could have been a big asset for Steve."

McEveley won his first Scotland cap last night against Mokoena's South Africa.
