Blackburn youngster Slew pushing for first team chance

Blackburn Rovers new signing, Jordan Slew, is hopeful of making his Premier League debut this season. The 18-year-old joined from Sheffield United on transfer deadline day but has yet to make an appearance for Steve Kean's side.

He told the Lancashire Telegraph: "I definitely believe I can be a Premier League player. If I didn't, I wouldn't have come here.

"I'm high on confidence right now, I feel good and I feel I've got a good chance of playing.

"I want to fight for a first-team spot. All I can do is keep working hard in games and training, and score goals in matches, and hopefully the gaffer can see that and put me in.

"I'm grateful for everything Sheffield United have done for me but the time had come where I had to move on.

"To be at a Premier League club is great, you can't do anything better, it's the best league in the world. I couldn't turn down the opportunity really."
