Blackburn Rovers don't want Roque Santa Cruz's transfer saga to drag on through the summer.
Rovers want Santa Cruz's future sorted out this month, says The Sun.
Manchester City are still leading the chase to sign the former Bayern Munich striker.
But Rovers are keen to avoid the deal dragging on this summer - so boss Sam Allardyce can start his own transfer business.
Chairman John Williams said: "Sam understands the financial position and a lot depends on whether Roque goes.
"It's not just in terms of the cash it will generate but also in finding a replacement for him.
"We've not got a bottomless pot of money and I think numbers will have to be reduced."
