Blackburn Rovers fullback Michel Salgado believes Manchester United are two top class players short.
Salgado has seen enough of the class of 2010 to know they are not a patch on the team he faced in what he describes as the best match of his career - Real Madrid's 3-2 win at Old Trafford in 2000.
He said: "I played the side that had David Beckham, Roy Keane, Ruud van Nistelrooy and a young Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. What a team that was.
"It is different now. Nani is growing and the same with Antonio Valencia, he needs time but I like the team I played against then more.
"United need to sign two top players, especially a striker as they've lost Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez, but also a midfielder."
On the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real, Salgado added: "The problem was that with the money they received, you could spend it using your head and they didn't.
"I was really surprised to see him not spend more. Maybe it was because the currency here is not the best but it's the same in Spain."
