Scunthorpe boss Alan Knill is hoping to sign Blackburn trialist Gavin Gunning on a permanent basis. The 21 year old played for Scunthorpe in the friendly victory over Rotherham and the defeat to Barnsley, and now Knill is hoping to tie up a deal before this weekend.
"Gavin is still a Blackburn player but at the moment he's negotiating a pay-up on his contract," Knill told the club's official website.
"Once he gets that then maybe we can do something.
"Gavin is going to be a good player so I'm hoping we can sign him. It all depends really though on whether he can leave Blackburn.
"I'm hoping it can be resolved by the weekend."
