Blackburn takeover ends Newcastle hopes for Bentley deal

Newcastle United's hopes of signing David Bentley have been dashed as Blackburn Rovers enter takeover negotiations.

The Sun says Kevin Keegan wants the winger to help launch his Toon revolution and is planning a £10million raid.

But the consortium negotiating a £55m Rovers buy-out have made it clear Bentley, 23, must remain at Ewood Park as part of any deal.

The England man cost Blackburn only £1m when he signed from Arsenal two years ago.

But he has since emerged as one of the most exciting young talents in the country and is in talks over a lucrative new contract.
