Blackburn Rovers face a battle to land Standard Liege star Axel Witsel.
The Daily Mail says Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton and Manchester United have all been linked and have watched him over recent seasons.
Blackburn, though, are the only English side to make a firm move and have offered around £5million for the 22-year-old who can play comfortably in either a defensive or attacking midfield role and has even played on the wing.
He scored 10 goals last season and is a regular in the Belgium side. The problem is that Benfica have made a better offer of around £7m.
