Blackburn's hopes of reaching the group stage of the Uefa Cup look grim as they lost their first round, first-leg tie 2-0 against Larissa in Greece.
Rovers fifteen game unbeaten run came to an end with one of the worst performances under boss Mark Hughes.
Two goals in as many minutes in the first half have given the Ewood Park outfit a mountain to climb in the second leg against the Greek Cup winners.
The second quickly followed after an awful back pass from Brett Emerton allowed the Brazilian, Cleyton, to slot home.
Rovers failed to improve after the break and will have to show a greater threat in front of goal in a fortnight's time otherwise this season's European venture will be over.
"We are all disappointed with the levels we've achieved tonight," said the Rovers boss on the clubs official website . "Obviously they worked extremely hard and got a couple of breaks with the goals, but the second one was one that could have been avoided.
"From our point of view the one positive to come out is that we are still in the tie, because once we were pushing to try and get the away goal then on occasions we were a little bit bare at the back and could have conceded more.
"But 2-0 is a result that we can claw back and we need to play much better than we did tonight.
"We tried to say to the guys before the game that this was going to be a very difficult game for us, they had a lot of motivation to beat a Premier League side, it was a big game for them and they were going to give everything that they had.
"We are a much better side than we have shown tonight and everybody acknowledges that, but it is up to us to make sure that we are still in the tie once the second leg is over."
The game at the Panthessaliko Stadium was played on a pitch that wasn't in the best of conditions, which didn't help either team.
"They were difficult conditions, it was the same for both teams, but it wasn't a pitch that was conducive to how we like to play. There was a swirling wind and possibly they used those elements better than we did.
"It wasn't a pitch for getting the ball down and playing, it was about getting the ball forward and getting runners and doing the 'hard yards' as we call them, and maybe they were more prepared to do that than we were tonight."
