Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz felt he never had a chance at parent club Manchester City.
Santa Cruz says he was never in Roberto Mancini's plans.
He told the People: "Manchester City is a bigger club with greater competition for places. However I got off to a bad start with them, and suffered a knee-cap injury.
"Then there was a change of manager, and Roberto Mancini wanted new players. He brought in Carlos Tevez, Mario Balotelli and Emmanuel Adebayor, and I felt the team wasn't going to be built around me."
