Blackburn Rovers striker Jason Roberts is set to sign for Ipswich Town boss Paul Jewell.
Jewell signed the powerful Grenadian international for Wigan in January 2004 and he moved on to Ewood Park five years ago.
Roberts still has 12 months of his contract remaining but Rovers are prepared to let him leave on a free.
Ipswich, who last week signed Michael Chopra from Cardiff for £1.5 million, have also spoken to Preston about Republic of Ireland international pair Sean St Ledger and Keith Treacy.
