Blackburn striker Rhodes: There's no better feeling than playing for Scotland

Despite the negativity surrounding Scotland's dismantled 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign, Jordan Rhodes is remaining positive.

The 23-year old Blackburn Rovers striker gained his first competitive international start when he played 80 minutes of Scotland's 2-0 loss to Serbia in Novi Sad on Tuesday night but he was thrilled just to be a part of the national team setup.

"It's fantastic - there's no better feeling than getting minutes on the pitch playing for Scotland," he said.

"There's plenty of time between now and the next games and the first thing we have to do is earn our call-ups.

"The focus now is to go back to our clubs and do as well as we can to make sure we get the shout, because no one can take it for granted.

"As for our current form, I know there's never been a Scotland team who've gone through a campaign without a win and as a squad you don't want to be known as the ones who broke that record.

"But I don't think we will. We've just got to knuckle down and work as hard as we can.

"When Croatia comes around in June it will be nice to get a win.

"We've been a bit unlucky with a couple of decisions in certain games but we will just try our best and go from there."
