Blackburn striker McCarthy wants South Africa return

Blackburn Rovers striker Benni McCarthy still wants to play for South Africa at next year's World Cup.

The Bafana Bafana striker is the subject of heated debate in his home country after being frozen out of the international fold but brother Jerome believes the time has come to resolve an on-off bust-up with SAFA.

He said: "Like any other South Africa soccer player, Benni is still interested in playing for Bafana Bafana, I believe that it will be good for both the country and him should he be recalled to the national team.

"I know that a lot has happened between him and SAFA, but we need to be forgiving and give him another chance.

Let whatever problems he had with SAFA be solved and Benni will be fully committed to the Bafana cause."
