Blackburn Rovers striker Benni McCarthy expects to join Portsmouth in January.

McCarthy's desire to get back in the goals has sparked talk of an Ewood exit in the January transfer window.

Speaking in South Africa his brother, Jerome McCarthy, told The News: "Benni told me something is going to happen and chances are he will move to Portsmouth.

"He was sure when he told me this.

"It will make more sense for him to leave Blackburn because he's not playing there."
