Blackburn Rovers captain Ryan Nelsen has backed teammate David Dunn to gatecrash England's World Cup squad.

Dunn won his only cap seven years ago against Portugal.

And he scored and inspired Blackburn to victory over bitter rivals Burnley.

Kiwi ace Nelsen said: "David has got to be knocking on England's door the way he is playing."

But Dunn is not so sure. He admitted: "It would be difficult to get into the current squad but I'll keep doing my best for Blackburn and then who knows?"
