New Blackburn Rovers signing Johann Vogel has ruled himself out of the European Championships.

The ex-Dutch Player of the Year said: "I don't want to play for them in the Euros. A year before I was captain and the manager told me he did not want me anymore. It was a five-second phone call on my 30th birthday.

"We had a good World Cup in Germany but after that we lost three times. He had to do something to keep his position.

"There is no chance I'll play for him again. A new coach is coming after the Euros, maybe I can play for my country again."
