Blackburn Rovers signing Radosav Petrovic admits he had ambitions of playing for Manchester United.
The champions were strongly linked with the midfield powerhouse, 22, back in January but a move never materialised. But he has ended up in the North West after completing a £3million switch to Rovers.
Petrovic, who hit 17 goals in 70 games for old club Partizan Belgrade, said: "Yes, I heard about United.
"I spoke to Vidic - he told me a lot about England and English football and told me I'd enjoy it.
"I know a lot about Blackburn - they are a very big club with a good history."
