Blackburn sign Ballymena United defender Flynn

Ballymena United defender Johnny Flynn has signed with Blackburn Rovers.

The defender has signed a three and a half year deal with the Ewood Park outfit while United received an undisclosed fee for the 18-year-old.

"Johnny is a good young player who we believe can go all the way," said Ballymena manager Tommy Wright. "We will do all we can to help any young player make it across the water."

Flynn spent two weeks on trial with the Ewood Park club in November after making an impression for the Sky Blues.

He is believed to have been recommended to Rovers by ex-Northern Ireland defender Barry Hunter.
