Blackburn Rovers are challenging Stoke City for Watford striker Tommy Smith.

The Mirror says Blackburn manager Paul Ince wants £2m-rated striker Smith,28, who has 10 goals this term.

Under-pressure Ince scouted Smith when he scored in Watford's win over QPR last month and is expected to complete a deal if he remains in charge at Ewood Park.
