Blackburn's Goodwillie confirmed as starter for Scotland tonight

David Goodwillie will lead a second-string attack for Scotland tonight as they take on Lithuania in Glasgow.

Craig Levein's Scotland team host the Lithuanians in a crucial Euro2012 qualifier at Hampden Park but will take an undermanned starting eleven in following injuries and suspensions to key players.

Blackburn Rovers summer signing Goodwillie has made just one international appearance but Levein is confident he can do the business for his country.

"He won't be fazed by it," said Levein. "I have no worries about David Goodwillie at all.

"He played a lot of games for Dundee United as a lone striker and he's had a big move in the summer.

"He's played a couple of games for Blackburn which can only do him the world of good.

"David is not Kenny Miller, he doesn't have that experience, but I have complete faith in him.

"He's one of the younger ones of this group who will become regular international players.

"He's improved hugely in the last couple of years.

"His goalscoring record is not under any question."

And Levein added that Goodwillie would be propped up by a strong midfield for the must-win fixture.

"That is the area I'm strongest," he said. "I have options. Fletch (Darren Fletcher] will play again, obviously James Morrison will play, so that's two who are straightforward."

Scotland are without Kenny Miller and Scott Brown (both suspended), whilst Charlie Adam is out with a hip injury and Craig Mackail-Smith will miss with a back strain.
