Blackburn Rovers star Brett Emerton was full of praise for an inexperienced Australian team which managed to overcome New Zealand 3-0 in Adelaide on Sunday.
Socceroos boss Holger Osieck was without key players Tim Cahill, Lucas Neill, Mark Schwarzer and Harry Kewellfor the Trans-Tasman friendly but entrusted the likes of Michael Zullo, Matthew Spiranovic, James Troisi, Robbie Kruse and Rhys Williams who all played some part in the victory.
Emerton said it was important that these types were not intimidated by international football and after the match was delighted with how they performed.
"I think they did exactly the job that was asked of them," Emerton said.
"They weren't overawed by the occasion and some of the boys showed a bit of flair ... It was good to watch."
