Blackburn Rovers midfielder Brett Emerton could spend some time on the sidelines after injuring his hamstring in Saturday's Premier League season-opening 2-1 loss to Wolves.
The 32-year old produced a brilliant display in the first half of Australia's 2-1 friendly win over Wales in Cardiff on Wednesday before lining up for the Rovers at Ewood Park against the visiting Wolves on the weekend.
But Emerton again had to be subbed off at half-time, this time with a hamstring problem, which at this stage is unknown how serious it is.
Rovers boss Steve Kean admitted it was 'unfortunate' that Emerton was injured but holds hope that he could return sooner rather than later.
"We were unfortunate as well because Brett Emerton had to come off with a hamstring, he had to come we'll assess that but hopefully it won't be too bad," he told the club's official website.
The injury certainly puts Emerton in doubt for the Socceroos' 2014 World Cup qualifying opener against Thailand in Brisbane in early September.
