Blackburn's Emerton excited about Man Utd test

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Brett Emerton says he is looking forward to the challenge of taking on Manchester United this weekend. The Lancashire club, placed 15th on the English Premier League table, host league leaders United at Ewood Park on Saturday as Sir Alex Ferguson's men look to wrap up the title.

Australian international Emerton said that the Rovers are in a position where they need to get at least a point for themselves to help secure survival in the top flight and insists they will be out to get what is required.

"We'll go into the Manchester United game to try and at least claim a point if not all three," said Emerton on Rovers Player.

"We have two very important games remaining and hopefully exciting ones. We are in the driving seat and barring a disaster in the last two games we should be able to keep ourselves safe and play another year in the Premier League where this club belongs."

And Emerton added that this season was one of those for the purists with its tightness at both ends of the table, adding further that Saturday's meeting with United was a stepping stone for next season.

"I've never played in a league so tight, it has been a really interesting season both at the bottom and at the top as well. It has been a great season for football supporters to watch," he added.

"Mentally it has been a very tough hard season, we just want to get ourselves safe and start preparing for next year. With the squad of players that we've got we can hopefully do something special."
