Championship Blackburn Rovers has announced a two-year sponsorship deal for the Riverside Stand with Regulatory Finance Solutions (RFS), reports SportsPro. According to an official press release, the deal, financial terms of which were not announced, will see the stand at Blackburn's 31,000-seater Ewood Park stadium renamed the RFS Riverside Stand.
"I used to sit in the old Riverside Stand as a schoolboy and have been a season ticket holder over the years before and after the new Riverside Stand was developed," said John Turner, chief executive of the Swindon-based management consultancy and life-long Rovers fan.
"I used to bring my mum to games and have many happy memories of my time with her watching Rovers play. Supporting Rovers is a real passion of mine and I'm delighted to sponsor my hometown team."
Greg Coar, head of commercial and marketing at Blackburn, said: "When you speak to John [Turner], you can hear the passion for the club loud and clear. It's fantastic that he sees a commercial benefit for his company is aligning RFS with Rovers and, as a staunch fan, he is justifiably proud to have such a visible presence at Ewood Park."
"It is very encouraging for us to secure this stand sponsorship with RFS, particularly as the man at the helm has such strong Rovers connections. We are fighting hard in a trying economic climate to bring new business to Ewood Park and this new contract provides a clear indication that we are moving in the right direction," added Paul Blackburn's operations director Agnew.
