Blackburn ready to splash out on Bordeaux winger Wendel

Blackburn Rovers are preparing a £6.5 million offer for Bordeaux winger Wendel.

The Daily Mail says manager Sam Allardyce, buoyed by his team's top ten finish in the Premiership, sees the Bordeaux star as the perfect replacement for Morten Gamst Pedersen, should the Norwegian leave.

Left-sided Wendel, 28, is in his fourth season at Bordeaux and has scored 13 goals in the current campaign, just three fewer than Arsenal-bound Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh, 26, who snubbed interest from Tottenham and Liverpool to join the Gunners on a free transfer.

Allardyce has also been keeping tabs on Bordeaux defensive midfielder Alou Diarra, who was at Liverpool between 2002 and 2004 without making a first team appearance.
