Blackburn ready to offload Roberts

Blackburn Rovers' out-of-favour striker Jason Roberts could leave Ewood Park this month.

Promotion rivals Southampton and Middlesbrough are in the hunt for 33-year-old Roberts.

The People says Roberts is ­frustrated at his lack of first-team football and hampered by a clause in his contract which insists Blackburn must offer him an extra year’s stay if he plays two more ­matches for Rovers.

Reading are ­interested in a loan move but both Roberts and Blackburn would prefer a ­permanent deal.
