Incoming Blackburn Rovers signing Bruno Ribeiro has been dubbed 'Denis Irwin' after the Manchester United legend by his new teammates.
Brazilian right-back Ribeiro, who most recently played for Gremio Prudente in his homeland, has been on trial with Rovers during pre-season.
He has impressed sufficiently to be offered a contract and is expected to complete a free transfer to Ewood Park this week once clearance has been received from the Football Association.
"Bruno, or Denis after Denis Irwin the boys call him because he never gives the ball away, will fill in that position and that is great for us," manager Steve Kean told the Lancashire Telegraph.
