Blackburn Rovers will not pursue a permanent deal for on-loan Chelsea striker Franco di Santo in January.
The Lancashire Telegraph says his spell in East Lancashire is due to end on January 1, but Blackburn are hopeful they can extend his loan until the end of the season.
Rovers have not considered launching a cash offer for Di Santo in a bid to prise him away from Stamford Bridge on a permanent basis.
Although it may become a viable option next summer, the club's only intention is to keep his stay temporary for the time being.
