Blackburn No2 McDonald heaps praise on Man Utd striker Diouf

Blackburn Rovers No2 Neil McDonald was delighted with on-loan Manchester United striker Mame Biram Diouf's goal scoring performance against Hearts.

McDonald was more than happy with the run-out and admitted new boy Diouf could not have made a better impression.

He told the Lancashire Telegraph: "It was a decent work-out. We obviously had two games at the weekend and trying to feature everyone. For the new lad to score goal is excellent.

"He showed what he is all about and certainly worked hard in the second half, which is great. He showed he has a good touch and knows what to do at the right time.

"First impressions are great. First impressions are he is a goal scorer and he scored a goal. Upwards and onwards. He is very, very quick and looks to get behind when he can. He is a little bit different to what we have.

"We have been watching him for quite a while and the gaffer has got in touch with Sir Alex and done the business for us.

"Hopefully if he gets the chances he will stick it in the back of the net like he did. If we can't buy them in, we will have to loan them in. We are looking forward to working with him.

"I think you have seen glimpses of what he can do, which is great. He looks intelligent, has a canny touch, is quite good in the air and knows when to make his runs.

"It is a promising start. Hopefully it will help everyone. We have a good staff who can hopefully progress him.

"Try and make him stronger, try and make him faster. He is going to get better by playing games, scoring goals and being in the right position."
