Blackburn Rovers assistant boss Mark Bowen says England manager Fabio Capello has gaffed by overlooking their left-back Stephen Warnock.

Bowen told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "I was surprised when the England squad was announced.

"Fabio Capello was at our game against Aston Villa last weekend, and Stephen Warnock was the best player on the pitch.

"Myself and Mark were hoping that he'd get a call-up, but obviously that's not the case now."
