Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is making a shock move for Portsmouth striker David Nugent.
The Sunday Mirror says Allardyce is poised to take on former club Bolton in a bid to take Portsmouth flop Nugent back to the county where he made his name with Preston North End.
Big Sam is aware Pompey's administrator Andrew Andronikou wants to unload Nugent and that the 25-year-old Merseysider is desperate to return to the North-West.
Relegated Portsmouth want at least half the £6million they paid for Nugent in 2007. But Allardyce believes Pompey's desperate financial predicament may force them to accept less.
