Blackburn Rovers midfielder Elrio van Heerden has enjoyed an impressive trial spell at Sheffield United.
The Lancashire Telegraph says the 26-year-old South African has not played a single minute of Premier League football since making a free transfer switch from Club Brugge in the summer.
After just two substitute appearances in the Carling Cup, van Heerden is now seeking a fresh move away to boost his chances of making South Africa's squad for next year's World Cup.
Although Rovers are not yet in serious discussions with Sheffield United over a potential move, they are expected to hear from the Championship side nearer to the January transfer window.
