Blackburn midfielder Reid eager to stay with West Brom

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Steven Reid has declared he wants to sign permanently with West Brom.

Reid is off contract in June has enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Hawthorns this season.

Albion supporters made their feelings known by chanting 'sign him up' as he was replaced by Ishmael Miller during the second half of the 1-1 draw with Barnsley.

He told the Birmingham Mail: "Was that [chanting] for me? I thought it was for Baggie Bird.

"It's been a great move for me, especially playing out of position.

"I didn't mind that. It was just a matter of getting in and playing games and the manager kept faith with me when defenders were fit and ready to play.

"I take that as a big compliment and the reception I have had from the fans from the moment I signed has been brilliant. I have been surprised by the size of the club as well. There were 25,000 here today and that's a decent fan base so hopefully they can continue that next season.

"Nothing has been said of my future at the moment.

"It's been a case of waiting until the season finishes and first and foremost getting promotion to see where the club is at."
