The Daily Mail says Rovers have eyes for Almeria's £8million-rated winger Piatti.
The Argentina international is only 5ft 4ins tall and was a target for Wigan Athletic.
Udinese are regarded as favourites for Piatti as they seek a replacement for the want-away Alexis Sanchez.
