Blackburn legend Simon Garner has hailed Blackburn's bold appointment of manager Paul Ince and believes the gamble will pay off.
Ince was named Rovers' successor to Mark Hughes on Sunday and the club's record goalscorer Garner admits it represents a gamble on the part of chairman John Williams.
"I don't think there'll be too much pressure on Paul," Garner told Setanta Sports News. "He's coming from the lower leagues.
"I don't think in the first season there'll be a lot of pressure on him. The pressure is there to equal what Mark Hughes has done so far.
"Paul's got to carry on and I think the main thing is to keep them in the Premiership.
"He will need to get off to a good start, you don't want to be languishing down near the bottom after half a dozen games.
"Ince will need to learn quickly which players he will need to sign for The Premier League but I think he's got enough contacts in the game to know which way to go.
"It's an exciting time - I think the board should be applauded for taking a gamble on Paul Ince. It's often easier to go for a foreign manager or someone who's out of work but who's managed before in The Premier League."
