Blackburn go for French free agent Herold Goulon

Blackburn Rovers are chasing French free agent Herold Goulon.

The Mirror says the former under-21 international and Clairefontaine football academy graduate is due at Rovers for talks today ahead of being offered a deal.

Giant 6ft4in star Goulon - still just 22 - has been a free agent since quitting Le Mans at the end of his contract but has been offered deals to play on in France. However he fancies coming to England instead.

Sam Allardyce has vacancies in his squad for new players after a disappointing transfer window and Goulon is seen as a possible first-team player because they have limited options.

Goulon was with Middlesbrough as a kid, but went home to play for Le Mans. His form was impressive enough to lead to international recognition.

Allardyce will give Goulon a 'test' before deciding what to offer him, but the signs are positive that he could join the French colony at Ewood Park.
