Blackburn Rovers fullback Pascal Chimbonda returns to Wigan Athletic today again full of apologies over the way he handled his departure for Tottenham two years ago.
Chimbonda is hopeful the Latics fans will forgive him ahead of today's game.
Chimbonda said of Wigan's fans: "I understand why they were upset but they need to understand me, too. They were my first club in England and I did well for them.
"When a club like Spurs comes and knocks on the door, you have a decision to make. I was a player then with a lot of ambition and I still am.
"I just felt it was the right time to move on. Of course I would have liked to end it in a better way.
"I have regrets about the way it happened. I have apologised and I'll apologise again. I've done everything I can."
He added: "I'd ask the fans to remember the good things. I have some good memories and I hope the fans have, too. Back then I was the best right-back in the league.
"I played in a League Cup final at Cardiff. I regret how I left, but I have good memories and I hope the fans do too.
"Sometimes the fans prefer to remember the bad things and if they decide to boo me, then it will give me more power and motivation to beat them.
"I'm pleased to have made the move to Blackburn and now we have the chance to make another League Cup final.
"We have the semi-final against Aston Villa. Before then we have some important league games and it's about time we did win because the last one was against Bolton at the end of November."
