Blackburn fans gave new owners rousing reception

Blackburn Rovers' new owners were given a rousing reception by fans for last night's clash with Tottenham.

The Lancashire Telegraph says Balaji Rao was the first to arrive in one of two black Mercedes surrounded by bodyguards and friends for the match against Tottenham.

But the 200-strong crowd gathered outside the players entrance saved the biggest cheer for Venky's chairman and Rovers' co-owner Anuradha Desai and her brother Venkateshwara when they stepped out of their chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce Phantom and Bentley cars.

The visit was the first to the club by Mrs Desai following Venky's purchase of Rovers in November.

There were shouts of 'Venky's' as the family made their way to the entrance and Mrs Desai even stopped to sign an autograph for nine-year-old Tyler Cole.

When asked if she was pleased to be in Blackburn, Mrs Desai said: "Yes, I am very happy to be here, and I am excited for the future."
