Blackburn defender Zurab hopes for Reading stay

Blackburn Rovers defender Zurab Khizanishvili wants to sign permanently with Reading.

The Georgia international became a favourite at the Madejski Stadium after signing on loan in January and despite having a year left on his contract at Ewood Park, he is confident of making a switch to the Coca-Cola Championship side.

He said: "I have spoken to Brian McDermott and I hope to be back.

"But it's not definite as I still have a one-year contract at Blackburn so it's 50-50 I would say.

"I have a game with the national team at the end of May and my agent is coming to talk with Blackburn and Reading, so we have to wait and see.

"I thought when I came here the club was in a bad situation and it's not easy for a new player coming in with it like that. It's not easy at any level to go from zero to hero like Reading have. It's a really good achievement. It has been a pleasure to play with the boys and meet so many decent guys."
