Blackburn Rovers defender Zurab Khizanishvili wants to return to Newcastle United.

Khizanishvili's United career went pear shaped when he was red carded against Doncaster Rovers back in October when first arriving on-loan.

Now back with Rovers, he told the Evening Chronicle: "If they make a decision and I go back in January, I would be happy to play for Newcastle again.

"I spent three months there, and I was very happy.

"I spoke to Chris (Hughton), and he's a very honest guy - he tells you what he thinks face to face. That's what you need as a player.

"He's a respectable man, and I really enjoyed the games I played."
