Everton striker Yakubu is on the verge of a move to Blackburn Rovers, BBC Africa Sport understands. The Nigerian international spent the second half of last season on loan in the Championship with Leicester City.
The 28-year-old has previously played for Portsmouth and Middlesbrough in the top flight.
Rovers are working closely with agent Pini Zahavi on the deal - and Everton want Yakubu out to make space for David Moyes to sign a player or two with his salary off the payroll.
