Blackburn Rovers today confirmed the signing of Brazilian defender Bruno Ribeiro.

The 28-year old full-back has arrived on a free transfer, signing a three-year deal after last playing with homeland club Gremio Barueri.

Ribeiro had been on trial with Rovers, joining earlier in the pre-season to travel to Austria and taking part in the 2-1 win over Accrington Stanley and the 4-1 win over Kilmarnock last weekend.

Ribeiro's three-year deal has an option for a further season and he could be included in Steve Kean's squad for tomorrow's season opener against Wolves at Ewood Park.
