Blackburn, Burnley development working well for NZ youngsters Payne, Howieson

New Zealand international Jeremy Brockie is impressed by the development of teenagers Tim Payne and Cameron Howieson.

18-year old Payne calls Blackburn Rovers home whilst 17-year old Howieson became the youngest Kiwi to play in England's Football League when he debuted for Burnley last season.

Ahead of the Oceania Football Confederation's Nations Cup in the Solomon Islands, 24-year old Brockie touched briefly on the impact the pair have had on the All Whites squad recently.

"Payne and Howieson are in camp for the first time and they definitely do not look out of place," the Wellington Phoenix new boy told tribalfootball.com

"There is quite a lot of younger players in the squad which is good for the development of NZ football. The young guys (including Chris Wood, Marco Rojas and Kosta Barbarouses) have been great but of course it's important to have the older boys in there to lead the way also."

Brockie and his New Zealand teammates take on Fiji in Honiara in their first group stage match on Saturday, June 2.
