Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean is keen to add creativity to his midfield.
The People says Kean is negotiating with Spanish side Almeria about signing talented Argentinian wide man Pablo Piatti for £8m, although they want to pay less.
Kean asked about Werder Bremen's Marko Marin, but he proved too expensive.
Tottenham see Marin as a potential replacement for Luka Modric.
