Blackburn boss Ince: We need Tugay

Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Ince says 38 year-old veteran Tugay has a big role to play this season.

"Tugay can definitely play a role, not just on the field but off the field as well," Ince told the Rovers website.

"It depends on what formation I want to play, there'll be formations where I'll have Tugay sitting there with two in front, but it depends on what team we are playing against. But the lad certainly has quality and it is certainly something I can use throughout the season."

Tugay is the longest serving member of the Rovers squad, signed in the summer of 2001 from Rangers for just £1.3m, he has over 250 appearances for the club to his name and is a firm favourite amongst the fans.

"The lads look up to him and it is important that even if he is not playing that he still makes sure things are right in the dressing room," added Ince.

"But when he comes on his variety of passing is just different class, and I'm pleased I've got him for another year.

"I'm glad he's in my side and I'm sure throughout the season he'll be used."
