Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Ince believes Terry Venables was right to reject a job offer from Newcastle United.

He admitted: "I can understand El Tel. I worked with him at Euro 96 and he's an outstanding boss.

"He's held in high esteem by everyone in football, so to ask him to go there for four or five weeks is a bit of an insult. It is disrespectful to the man himself.

"He's actually that good he probably could have made a difference in that short space of time.

"He's a great man-manager, a fantastic manager. If he'd been offered a couple of years he might have taken it."
